Open Mic in Kew Soiree. 3/06/08

Thanks to everyone who made the Open Mic in Kew Autumn Soiree a huge success. We were all so busy having a blast that nobody thought to take a photo. Tim had set up his small PA with fold back, and some red and green fill lights. There was rows of seats and some couches. 12 or so performers made for a great and diverse selection of music, from jazz piano, through singer songwriters, pausing at feature artist Tim Warmington and ending up with some J.S. Bach for solo violin. Yes siree, great stuff. The next soiree will be Tuesday 3rd June

Open Mic in Kew Winds Up For The Year. 4/11/07

Many Thanks to all the players who've joined in at the Open Mic In Kew. This coming Sunday 4 th November will be the final show for the year. We will recommence next year after all the festive cheer has died down. Email me and I'll put you on the open mic mailing list to receive details about next years start date and stuff like that.

September

2nd - Gretchen Anderson - Professional violinist performing extraordinary music by 20th century composer Ysaye.

16th - Tim Warmington of Tim's Book Shop Fame playing great classics. I think Tim is a bit like Billy Bragg(entirely my opinion).
23rd - John O'Beirne - John is a fine wordsmith and has been playing around in bands for quite a while.

October

7th - Harry T is an original member of BAZAAR, Australia's premier classic rock cover band
14th - Rob Burn and Friends coming down to celebrate Trishes birthday. Come join the party.
21st - Bruce Pumpa a true craftsman of a writer, tipping his hat simultaneously to Burt Bacharach and the great Aussie pub scene of years gone by, a field which Bruce has a encyclopedic knowledge of, he's a RockWiz.
28th - Jeremy P Martin the man behind the mic at the Open Mic in Kew

November

4th - Ian and his lovely wife who's name I've momentarily forgotten. Ian used to work for a major label and has met everyone and seen EVERYTHING, that rock and roll has to offer.

The Open Mic in Kew is Underway. 1/06/07

For the opening night we were lucky to have Leigh Sloggett, Trevor Shard of Netherby Brothers(and Australian Songwriters Association) fame as well as Frank O'Brien and co. with his own particle accelerator fused blend of folk and jazz(entirely my description, not sure what you make of this Frank?). We were also graced with the presence of the perennial John Dale and another fellow who's name must remain undisclosed for reasons of national security.
