New Album 'Canon' Released 6/12/09.

Barbeque and Album Launch.

I know I’ve kept this a bit of a secret but my new album ‘Canon’ will be released at a private party and barbeque on Sunday the 6th December. I’d like you to come along and join me and my guest band as we perform a few songs from the new album, and then relax with all the usual barby sophistication.

I’m going to be joined by a number of special guests, Rohan Kay, Tim Warmington, Sonoko Nishio, Nevil Schultz, Dave Mcdonald, Stuart Naylor, Gretchen Anderson, Lizzy Walsh, Lynette Rayner, Stephen Hughes and Rob Lamb.

The album will be there to buy too for $20.

I’m really stoked by the new CD, I think you’re in for a bit of a surprise with the direction I’ve taken in this latest collection of songs.

I want to see you there, J.

Cheers

Live Recording @ RRR 27/3/09.

I was thrilled to be invited in to the studio by Paul Mortensen to be part of a recorded show for enthusiasts of cover songs. I listened with awe as Paul chart an interlinked journey through a small pile of 45s and CDs he'd brought in specially for the occasion. We chatted a bit about this rich subject and I revealed that I may have a bit of a prejudice against cover music but am fast
realising (with his help too I might add) that there is a lot more to it than just playing a song that someone else wrote.
What better to do with a live musician than squeeze a song out of them, so in keeping with the theme I chose a song that had sprung immediately into mind, Don Mcglashan's iconic and deeply soulful track 'Andy' from his 'The Front Lawn' days.

New Website Goes Live. 27/3/09.

I'm just crazy enough to tackle this website building lark for myself and here is the result. Split into two main areas, the site consists of the, 'my career as an original artist' part, and the, 'my work as a producer and in the community' part. There's plenty of free downloads, a shop if you feel inclined to buy some of the tunes you like, videos and all the stuff you'd expect to find. You can chat with my by visiting Facebook and MySpace or simply email me right here from the site. I'm always up for a chat.

Reviews

Listener Feedback - 'Canon'. 17/12/09.

"So I have listened to Canon a few times now and it is pretty bloody choice.  The guitars sound awesome.  Clear and crunchy, earthy and alien.  Nice one.  I have stacked the CD in my shelf between Marley (Bob) and Massive (Attack) who it shares a lot of sonic sensibilities with. It is also just down the road from McCartney (Paul) whose songs it can stand shoulder to shoulder with." Paul Mortensen

Subject: Re: My New Album

"hi, i kind of wrote this ages ago then it got lost on your web site somewhere and so I thought I'd just email it. i don't listen to music much these days which seems to increase its affect on me - to the point where having seen the most astounding rite of spring at the ballet a few years ago i now cry every time i hear it - and receiving your cd in the mail was real treat. i always feel the end of Primary Jet Men soars off most gloriously into the sunrise leaving me beached and wanting more so about halfway through my second listening of level up, feeling disconcerting tinges of jet lag, i popped on Fire For The Dawn to help clear my preconceptions and got on with enjoying the inevitable surprises. So it's great to hear you doing the things you do again and having them grow through my head and although the sweet 'vintage' Jeremy of Where would I have been and Got me going is what pulls at my heart strings the real joy comes from that moment when i suddenly get that something's going on having completely not got what was going on in the first place. My favourites are still the marvin the paranoid android moment before the last chorus in Commitment Love Song, and also the switch into it from Drummin. And the perturbing i hope you have lots of children bit. Bhadra actually went out and bought some sourdough. She also wants to know if the elevator comes down again, I figured the level of sophistication was too high for that. It's the best track for me, like a travelator in a revolving airport. Then later that crazy synthesiser sucks at my ears for day after forgotten day."

NZBeats.com Review by Ki Mansell. 22/11/07

"I got this album a month ago and have had the chance to listen to it right through 4 or 5 times now. Jeremy takes us in a new and interesting direction this time around. Right of the bat he introduces himself and the album backed by a kicking drum. He follows it up with Commitment Love Song and great track with an ‘Exponents’ esk beat and Radio Song his hit single, both of which will keep the average listener happy. For the more adventurous Jeremy explores new sounds with tracks like Elevator Up and Sour Dough. Although these may be over whelming at first, they grow on you like foot fungus….. the good kind that is? Throw in a couple of Jazz and Back ground tracks and you’ve got yourself a great album. Do your self a favour and add this to your music collection."
